Edge-Gluing - Gluing Up Large Panels.

Even with small projects, you may find it necessary to edge-glue two or more boards to make a panel the size you need.
There are two basic considerations in the choosing the stock for edge gluing:
1. You need stock that has little or no twist and minimal cupping over the length of the panel you intend to make.
2. You need stock whose grain at the edges of the boards are reasonably close in color and pattern.

Tips for Better Sharpening

Edge tools ought to be sold sharp, but they rarely if ever are today. It’s just not cost-effective to reduce manufactured ‘ground-edge’ to a fine edge by honing. Though grinding is fast and effective, it doesn’t produce an edge that is ready to use.
